I don't like some of the ruin names. They are supposed to be geographical, but they don't help at all. For instance, river ruins and river-eastside ruins. If nobody objects, in the next few days I will make some changes.  --[[User:Oktavius|Oktavius]] 20:00, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Huts

  • In Durham there's a hut that's unremarkable on the outside, but inside thte description is "All around are crates labelled with things like "Warning: Ammunition", some of which have been prised open and emptied of their contents", and it was easy to find rifles and bullets. Are there any other huts like this around Shartak? --Grigoriy 16:13, 4 March 2006 (GMT)
    • There is something similar in Wiksik -- inside one hut there is a trading post with a vigilant watchdog inside. --Berry 05:58, 5 March 2006 (GMT)
    • There is a trading post in raktam as well, i wasted like 30AP and came up with nothing searching so I think the trading posts are quitle different from weapon/item caches when it comes down to search rates, I haven't checked all of the huts in raktam so there may still be a weapon building there(i could see all outsider villages having a weapon cache to find ammo as it appears that darts are easier to find then bullets in the jungle). The map of shartak is almost filled in, maybe we could add a pic of the ingame map with village locations sometime soon, I can point out raktam easily! -- Daylan 11:06, 9 March 2006 (GMT)

Trees

  • The lists of trees are growing a bit silly now, and it occurs to me (although only after having noted the locations of several myself), that the data, as well as being a touch overwhelming, isnt actually particularly useful. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to make it a bit more navigable, as having an easy way to locate the nearest tree would be very useful. -- Less Than Lethal
    • I'm noticing a couple carved trees with messages warning about poisonous bushes or tasty mangos, but there are no such plants in the square. If the vegetation is dying and growing, perhaps it is not worth recording the specific locations of the berry bushes and fruit trees? --Lint 00:39, 24 April 2006 (BST)
      • Did the tree reappear when you chopped clear to the ground? I've been told that you obtain XP by revealing a tree's location, if it has been overgrown by jungle. In any event, the tasty/poisonberry message can save time for many later visitors, until the bush dies... --Tycho44 10:43, 7 May 2006 (BST)
  • Another tree factoid. Carved "Berries!" into a random jungle location that contained a berry bush and proceeded to chop the jungle down to density 0. The message remained. --Lint 05:38, 30 May 2006 (BST)
  • Secondly, I want to move the fruit tree and bush information to its own page. But it doesn't seem right to title it "Tree" or "Bush" or "Trees and bushes". Any suggestions? --Lint 05:38, 30 May 2006 (BST)

Coordinates

  • Would it be possible to keep the village specifics (various hut coordinates, etc.) just on the individual village pages? We can keep the shaman coordinates, though.

    I'm considering a template box for the villages which would list (village_name), (village_shaman), (village_shamanxy), (village_armouryxy), (village_clinicxy), (village_trader), (village_traderxy). Any suggestions are welcome. --Lint 08:58, 27 March 2006 (BST)
    • Done. --Lint 00:39, 24 April 2006 (BST)

Mountain path

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Start and end? They start at various points of the base, and end at a ledge on the top. Each leads to a different ledge, though you can get to other ledges sometimes through the tunnels...--Wifey 19:00, 11 May 2006 (BST)

Island/Islet off the west coast

  • Two pages regarding the above body of land have been created - La Islet Bonobo and Shark Island. I do not wish to unduly clutter the main page, but would like to link to them. Does anyone have suggestions for what would be appropriate? Anothertwilight 02:39, 3 May 2006 (BST)
    • Oh I didn't realize that there was another article. Quite a difficult situation since there is no "official" term and no easy way to refer to that location. Perhaps we should create a new article titled something nondescript like The Large Western Islet Island. Then merging and redirecting the two existing articles to that place. It will be a mostly NPOV, but also have two sections for POV-comments by RE and DCC. --Lint 02:52, 3 May 2006 (BST)
      • I created the 2nd (Shark Island) in response to the first and have been deliberately non-NPOV; that being the heart of this all-in-good-fun conflict. It does, however, conflict with the otherwise wonderfully neutral wiki and hence my concern over where and how to link to either/both. I am tempted to push/promote the RE version as the 'official' one; the classic resolution to discoverer/naming disputes is to appeal to an authority to recognise their version; but this may be one of those 'thin end of the wedge' situations, where the wiki becomes cast as a kind of referee or judge for in-game contests. Anothertwilight 03:03, 3 May 2006 (BST)
  • For now they're both categorized as locations, but that will become a little redundant over time. I don't believe that one group's naming convention should be favored over the other. A more neutral article title that everyone can generally accept should be. Maybe just numbering these little islands as they are claimed. I'm considering placing a link to this discussion on the main page if you don't mind. --Lint 20:14, 3 May 2006 (BST)
A link would be an excellent idea - finding consensus on how this should be handled would be useful. I have drafted a possible NPOV article - Western Islets and called for comment/editing from both the Discordians and Expedition members. I would also appreciate your criticism. Beyond the Western Islets

So now I'm itching to get to work on some of the other points of interest. Particulary the Southern Islet, Southeastern Islet, the Mountain, and the Rivers. --Lint 20:19, 5 May 2006 (BST)

Shark Attack

I just moved from the mainland to Shark Island/La Islet Bonobo and did not get attacked by a shark. 13-14 spaces (no swimming skill). The luck of the RNG or have the sharks gone away?Anothertwilight 01:47, 5 May 2006 (BST)

I also experienced a great deal of luck with the RNG the day before yesterday. But I'm fairly certain that shark attacks are still present ingame as I was attacked repeatedly yesterday. --Lint 20:19, 5 May 2006 (BST)
Sharks are still around. Odds appear to be at least 1 in 10. (I've been bitten 4 times in one day.) --Tycho44 10:44, 7 May 2006 (BST)
