General Information

Campfires ward off animal attacks, and give comfort and warmth to the inhabitants on Shartak during those long lonely nights. With the skill Survival-Firecraft, one can make a fire for cheaper amount of AP.

Required Items

To make a fire, one needs at least four items: driftwood/deadwood, tinder, a sharpening stone, and a dagger/knife.

Driftwood

  • Location Found - On the beach, more likely to find some in boatyards
  • Needed for - Driftwood can be turned into tinder for 3AP (reduced to 1AP if one knows the skill Survival Firecraft). Also, at least one piece is needed to start the fire. The more pieces you add will cause the fire to burn hotter and longer.

Deadwood

  • Location Found - In Jungles with a density of seven or greater
  • Needed for - Deadwood can be turned into tinder for 3AP (reduced to 1AP if one knows the skill Survival Firecraft). Also, at least one piece is needed to start the fire. The more pieces you add will cause the fire to burn hotter and longer.

Tinder

  • Location Found - Fashioned from driftwood/deadwood.
  • Needed for - Tinder starts the fire initially.
  • Special Notes - Traders will not accept tinder as a trade item.

Sharpening Stone

  • Location Found - Outsider or Native Resource huts
  • Needed for - In conjunction with a dagger/knife and a piece of tinder, will start a fire.

Knife

  • Location Found - Outsider or Native Resource huts, Jungle, Ruins
  • Needed for - In conjunction with a sharpening stone and a piece of tinder, will start a fire.
  • Special Notes - The knife cannot be blunt to start a fire.

Dagger

  • Location Found - Outsider or Native Resource huts, Ruins
  • Needed for - In conjunction with a sharpening stone and a piece of tinder, will start a fire.
  • Special Notes - The dagger cannot be blunt to start a fire.

Wildfire

If lit in a Jungle square with any density, or on the grasslands, a fire has a chance to start a wildfire. If standing on the square when the fire starts, the message in game will look like this "Some of the sparks settle on dry vegetation and set the area on fire!", and your character will take ten points of damage. For every action done on a burning square, your character will take 5 points of damage. Wildfires can be stopped by pouring water onto a burning tile (putting out the fire this way will yield 4XP) or letting it burn itself out. A wildfire can spread to any adjacent jungle square (As long as it has density) or grassland squares. Fire will not spread to a Burnt Jungle or Burnt Grassland square.

Firefighting Techniques

Common Firefighting Techniques include chopping away at the jungle around a fire, limiting where it can burn and thus containing the blaze. This is followed by pouring water on the fire to help put it out quicker.
