The Durham Election FAQ
For the first time in history, the government of a Shartak town will be decided by a free and fair open election. This page aims to provide a brief overview of how you can participate in this historic event.
Who can vote?
The elections are open to anyone who has been a citizen of Durham longer than since the 15th of Feb, 2007.
Where can I vote?
To ensure transparency, the votes will be collected by a team of observers at the shaman in Durham, at [-70.648,+26.343].
When can I vote?
The voting will be on the 31st March 2007, from 00:00 to 24:00, server time - an in-game display of server time can be activated via the 'edit profile' page.
Who can I vote for?
Anyone who qualifies to vote can stand for the elections. Currently, the candidates are
- Nathan Hale, Durham Nationalists
- Commodore Jacobi, Durham Pistoleers
So what does the winner get?
The Durhamite with the most votes will become the Governor of Durham, and will be responsible for implementing a system of government. The various candidates have made differing promises of their intentions if they win - the most contentious areas are foreign policy, crime, and immigration.
