Initial Annoucement

Hello all, it's Neil Tathers, leader of the wonderful Team Tathers, and hunter of big game!

I propose a Sport in the Swamps!, a Romp in the Rivers!, and a Lackadaisical day in the Lake!

Strolling along the end of the swamp above Derby the other day, I found, to my amazement and excitement, a mess of gators stood staring at me. Try as I might, I was unable to dwindle their numbers, and I thought to myself, why not have someone else dwindle them for me! Knowing how top notch my team was, I could ask them for help.

But alas, one of my members just likes to punch rhinos in the face, another one wanted to find heavy swords instead, most of them were unable to comment, and the final one was shouting at kids in his lawn, I decided to contact the general populace with the hope that you can help.

Cause only you can prevent gators from taking over the island!

So here's the deal, sign up in this thread, you got till 11JUL2011 to do so. On July 11th until one month later (ONE WHOLE MONTH!) you net yourself a gator kill, you get a point. Get a hungry gator, get another point. Manage to bag something bigger than a hungry gator (like the mythical man-eating gator!) get yourself five points!

So, what are the other rules?

None. Kill gators.

But I'm going to need help. I'm going to need someone to handle the odds for this. I WANT GAMBLING PEOPLE!

People who wish to make money selling rilfe bullets, poison darts and healing items should get to Tarak's Spit by the time the contest starts!

Hanged Misfit, I want refreshments for the people who are hunting out there! And some security if you don't mind.

COME ON PEOPLE, LET'S HAVE A BASH!

Contestants

Contestant Names (initial alligator kills, initial hungry alligator kills, initial deadly alligator kills, initial man-eating alligator kills):

Fortune Telling

The mythical Wulla Mullung told a fortune for the contestants of the challenge.

  • Wulla-mullung says “For you, Neil Tathers, certainly. Although if you had been Tather's Neil, I would be inclined to reject you, for one part of a name does not own the other. They are but mutual friends.” (2011-06-28 02:13)
  • Wulla-mullung says “And I also see you wish to know the fortune of a particular! That of this Alligator Hunt! Intriguing! Most, it seems, wish to merely know their fortune, but then leave it at that!” (2011-06-28 02:14)
  • Wulla-mullung says “Like they wish me to know what they want to know, or to suggest upon them what I believe they want to hear! But that is hogwash! I deal with the Truth! Not superstition! Not willy-nilly cheap talk!” (2011-06-28 02:14)
  • Wulla-mullung says “And certainly not lies!” (2011-06-28 02:14)
  • Wulla-mullung says “But now, let us begin! Or let me begin! I once tried to let another begin, he made a mockery of the ordeal.” (2011-06-28 02:14)
  • Wulla-mullung unceremoniously sticks one of his bony-wrinkled and pleasantly-disfigured hands inside his mouth. A quick snap that sounds like a tooth breaking and the magician holds one alligator tooth. (2011-06-28 02:15)
  • Wulla-mullung examines the alligator tooth. It looks like an alligator tooth. The magician seems both incredibly pleased and incredibly surprised by this. (2011-06-28 02:15)
  • Wulla-mullung promptly shoves the alligator tooth up Neil's left nostril. "No no, don't resist. It's all in the process." Then, the magician grumbles about something. (2011-06-28 02:15)
  • Wulla-mullung says “I believe both nostrils should be plugged, but I lack another alligator tooth.” (2011-06-28 02:16)
  • Wulla-mullung puts a finger on his chin in a normal wise-thinking pose. "Neil, if you please, plug the other nostril with your finger." And Neil obliges, though not promptly, as the magician frowns thusly. (2011-06-28 02:16)
  • Wulla-mullung says “Now hold your breath for as long as you can." Neil does, in his totally ridiculous pose that at a very weak and superficial glance, may seem like nonsense. But the magician doesn't do nonsense. "Good.” (2011-06-28 02:17)
  • Wulla-mullung watches Neil give up after a time, red faced and irritated. (2011-06-28 02:17)
  • Wulla-mullung says “Two and a half plus three quarters minus an eighth of a Modgmul is quite a remarkable length of time to hold one's breath, Neil. This bodes well for the hunt.” (2011-06-28 02:17)
  • Wulla-mullung says “You may remove the plugs. And keep the alligator tooth. It's not for good luck or anything like that, I just don't very much want it." Neil obliges. "Ah, but something is yet missing.” (2011-06-28 02:18)
  • Wulla-mullung scratches his knuckles while he thinks. (2011-06-28 02:18)
  • Wulla-mullung says “There is a certain alligator, in the swamp, in which the hunt will be, and if the hunt will be in another swamp opposite or at a tangent to the swamp I speak of, then the alligator will be there too.” (2011-06-28 02:18)
  • Wulla-mullung says “This particular alligator has no description to speak of, perhaps because it is ordinary, or perhaps because it doesn't exist, but I shall provide it with a description nonetheless.” (2011-06-28 02:19)
  • Wulla-mullung says “So as for it to be identified. Now the alligator will come in a length of nine feet, not substantially long, and elsewhere in physical proportions it is rather ordinary and unexceptional.” (2011-06-28 02:19)
  • Wulla-mullung says “However, it does have something special going for it, and although this thing that is going for it does so reluctantly, it goes at it anyway because it is forced to.” (2011-06-28 02:19)
  • Wulla-mullung says “And now, for the description for the thing that is not in physical property unto this otherwise boring alligator is that in its minds, and no, it is not speech, that would be absurd.” (2011-06-28 02:19)
  • Wulla-mullung says “It is, in fact, this non-physical property, and the thing that reluctantly goes for this alligator but does so anyway because it must, that is, in its mind, is, quite straight, is, its indignation.” (2011-06-28 02:20)
  • Wulla-mullung says “Now, I am not sure what this indignant alligator is indignant about, although it is probably safe to assume it is about all its friends being murdered with so much lax sport.” (2011-06-28 02:20)
  • Wulla-mullung says “I say this because animals are generally quite simple and thus have no reason to worry about its job, or that neighbour who will not tend to his lawn, or what to do with a melon, ” (2011-06-28 02:21)
  • Wulla-mullung says “or what comes after death. Certainly, that last part is not something the indignant alligator worries about.” (2011-06-28 02:21)
  • Wulla-mullung says “So beware this indignant alligator when this hunt of the alligator commences, for the very thing the indignant alligator is indignant about is this very such thing: alligator hunts.” (2011-06-28 02:22)
  • Wulla-mullung says “The contestants should proceed with utmost caution, and be aware of their steps amidst the muck, so they do not step on the tail of the indignant alligator.” (2011-06-28 02:22)
  • Wulla-mullung says “For that would anger the beast, and it would have more to be enraged about than simple animal thoughts such as territory, hunger, or blind instinct.” (2011-06-28 02:22)
  • Wulla-mullung says “It, this indignant alligator, wants your head for your terrible and imposing lax sport on its kind and of itself. Or at least to chomp on your shin.” (2011-06-28 02:23)
  • Wulla-mullung says “Otherwise, I believe the Alligator Hunt of alligators and nothing else will be alright.” (2011-06-28 02:23)
