When you create a character for Shartak, you are asked to choose what the character's background is, e.g. soldier, explorer, native villager, etc. This is known as the character class. The character class choice affects what items the character starts with, what skills are available for the character to acquire, and what the character's Hit Point maximum will be. All nine character types are listed below along with information pertinent to each.

Scout

  • 50 HP.

  • Starts with tasty berries and a gourd of water.

Warrior

  • 60 HP.
  • 75 AP.
  • Starts with a loaded blowpipe and a spare poison dart.
  • Can learn Blowpipe Training and Advanced Blowpipe Training (Warrior exclusive).

Villager

  • 55 HP.
  • 75 AP.
  • Starts with a banana and a healing herb.
  • Can learn Animal Affinity and Scavenging (Villager/Settler exclusive).

Shaman

  • 50 HP.
  • 75 AP.
  • Starts with nothing.

Outsider characters

Outsider characters are newcomers to Shartak. They have established coastal settlements at Derby, Durham, York, and the shipwreck. All Outsiders can understand one another and can use items such as rifles and first aid kits.

Explorer

  • 50 HP.
  • 80 AP.
  • Starts with a bottle of water and a GPS unit.

Soldier

  • 60 HP.
  • 75 AP.
  • Starts with a rifle and a spare rifle bullet.
  • Can learn Firearms Training and Advanced Firearms Training (Soldier exclusive).

Settler

  • 55 HP.
  • 75 AP.
  • Starts with a bottle of beer and a first aid kit.
  • Can learn Animal Affinity and Scavenging (Villager/Settler exclusive).

Scientist

  • 50 HP.
  • 75 AP.
  • Starts with 10 gold coins.

Pirate
