I have used tracking effectively to hunt down people who have attacked me, however. - If you're checking every square or two, probably not. Personally, I've always found that extremely accurate tracking is too steep in AP. The best you can do is check the tracks every now and then, to see if you've gone off the trail. I have used tracking effectively to hunt down people who have attacked me, however.
