January
- Agriculture begins on the island as island residents discover that they can extract seeds from fruit, which when planted sprout trees, bushes and pumpkin patches.
February
- FIRE! FIRE! Is heard on the island for the first time, as the knowledge of how to start a small campfire results in the outbreak of numerous wildfires.
- The People's Republic of Durham launches a coordinated effort to stop the blaze on the Durham grassland. This is the first organized firefighting effort in Shartak history.
May
- The People's Republic of Durham gives Fort Creedy to the Society of New Haven so they could have their own area to plan events and socialize.
