Treasure map

Treasure maps point to various locations on the island, giving either weapons, healing supplies, juices, or other products plus XP (usually over 100 XP for every treasure found).

Location Found

Treasure maps can be purchased at traders for 8-16 gold coins a piece (Trader Tamdal sells them for the highest price). They get restocked every day. The pirate trader tends to acquire more treasure maps than other traders, since pirates are greedy and the trader is even worse.

Treasure Hunting Necessities

  • Shovel - Needed to dig the deepest hole level
  • Digging skill - Needed to dig the deepest hole level

Use of Treasure Maps

Treasure maps have a use and an identify in a drop down menu next to them. Each option does something unique.

Use

This activates the treasure map. Once a treasure map is activated you have limited time (two weeks) to find the treasure until it disappears. Use gives you an approximate location to get to to find the treasure. You can click use as much as you like until the map disappears to help narrow down the location, as well as to get a sense of how much time you have left to locate the treasure. Each click uses up one AP.

Map Degradation Texts

The map starts degrading after the first time it used. On the first use, you get the message "The map is written in dark ink on fresh parchment."

After the first use, you get the following texts in order as the map degrades. Each message will display for about two days before switching over to the next. After two weeks have passed, the next time the map is used, it disappears. The messages, in order, are as follows:

  • "The edges of the map are looking a little worn." (0-2 days after use)
  • "The creases on the map are well set." (3-4 days after use)
  • "The writing on the map is starting to fade." (5-6 days after use)
  • "The map is looking like it's seen better days." (7-8 days after use)
  • "The map is starting to fall apart." (9-10 days after use)
  • "The map is becoming impossible to read." (11-12 days after use)
  • "The map has almost completely disintegrated!" (13-14 days after use)
  • "As you pull the map out to examine it, it crumbles to dust and blows away in a sudden gust of wind." (more than 14 days after use)

Identify

This will identify the treasure map, giving one a general location as well as a general idea of what the treasure contains. This will not activate the map, and allow one to get in the general area of the treasure before activating.
