Already a member of the secretive, scholarly Philosophe Knights, his white mask caused the sailors and other passengers on board to dislike him, so when a small storm off the coast of Shartak caused his untimely departure, nobody was too sad to discover that he was missing. He survived the plunge, and was washed up on the coast, and wandered aimlessly until he was found by a few natives, one of which directed him back to Derby. He has since begun to establish himself as a teacher in Shartak, delivering lectures in Derby, and accepting invitations to do the same in Durham. He is one of only three Knights who have revealed themselves to the world in a public manner, the others having secluded themselves in the jungles, where they work in peace and quiet. Rumor has it that Le Penseur is only the first of many, many teachers to bring education to Shartak, and that the Philosophe Knights are merely waiting for him to establish a proper foothold on the island before embarking upon their own campaigns.
