Origins

Arthur Lines was once an environmentalist in the SPF, keeping his activities outside of any Outsider towns. His aim was to ward people away from the environmentally damaging roads, and this did involve the odd death. What is a the loss of a couple of short human lives compared to the loss of the ancient forests? He made sure he never killed anyone within a town's confines, aware of the law of each town, but when he was restocking his first aid kits in his hometown of Derby, the captain of the 1st Derby Privateers accused him on murdering on Derby soil. Without giving Arthur the opportunity to explain his actions, he was attacked and killed. That would have been the end of it, but for the mysterious ways of Shartak. Arthur awoke months later and vowed to take the fight to the Privateers.

He began a campaign against the Privateers, slaying any he came across anywhere. At this point he was content with this single clan, slaying them with little loss in return, but then the Derby Hospitallers began attacking him too. It was this action which opened his eyes: Derby was being oppressed by the Eastern Federation, which was made up of these two clans. They operated under the impression of a police force and social workers, but Arthur could now see through this illusion. He pledged himself to fighting this dictatorship to liberate Derby alongside any other Derbian who were not blinded by the Eastern Federation's lies and pretences, and so the Derby Protectors were born.

Who are we?

The Derby Protectors are those Derbians who are sick of being oppressed by the Eastern Federation, who are willing to take up arms against its dictatorship.

Why do we fight the Eastern Federation?

The Eastern Federation act under the pretence for wanting the best for Derby, yet they mercilessly suppress any who goes against its policies. Take the case of RobZombie, captain of the 1st Derby Privateers, who murdered ardent Protestant Lutheran on no other basis than the Protestant's evangelistic intent. What were the consequences? Lutheran was placed on the Privateer's Kill On Sight list, undoubtedly causing his violent tendencies, and the Derby Court took Robzombie to trial. He was found Guilty, and given a minor punishment which lasted no longer than a few days.

It is this Derby Court which is the Federation's greatest lie. It is claimed to prove the Eastern Federation's supposedly unbiased system of murder, for the accused is judged by three judges. This sounds fair, does it not? Consider then that one judge must be a member of the 1st Derby Privateers, another must be a member of the Derby Hospitallers, and the third a member of the Derby Rangers. All three clans combine to form the Eastern Federation. Should one refuse to submit to such an outrageous court system, they are automatically declared to be criminals. Is this fair? No! It is this pretence which the Derby Protectors have set themselves against.

The Derby Protectors' Anthem

From the tomb of vile oppression

The liberated pride rises free;

Oppressors, bend your knees!

Compatriots, intone the cry!

Sound the cry, "Our freedom or death"!

Our breasts exhale it with faith,

And the mountains repeat its echoes

Like giants arising.

Derbians: Our freedom or death!

It is our strength that will give us final liberty.

Neither tyrants nor slaves can continue,

Where unity and equality reign.

Neither tyrants nor slaves can continue,

Where unity and equality reign,

Where unity and equality reign.

Our Fatherland defends liberty and justice;

Tyrants: listen!

The laws in its sacred charter

Will sustain its heroism in the fight.

Against the world, if the world opposes it,

If the world dares to insult her security,

Battling to avenge we shall know her

Or die embracing her.

Derbians: Our freedom or death!

It is our strength that will give us final liberty.

Neither tyrants nor slaves can continue,

Where unity and equality reign.

Neither tyrants nor slaves can continue,

Where unity and equality reign,

Where unity and equality reign.

Arise, oh People, your splendid sword

That strikes with sparkles of bravery,

There is no middle ground between free or slave

And an abyss divides the two.

In the gentle breezes the cry resounds,

Repeating with triumphal echo:

For the free, renowned glory!

For the Fatherland, immortal laurel!

Derbians: Our freedom or death!

It is our strength that will give us final liberty.

Neither tyrants nor slaves can continue,

Where unity and equality reign.

Neither tyrants nor slaves can continue,

Where unity and equality reign,

Where unity and equality reign.
