Fleet-Footed

Author Timestamp Type Scope
Lint 18:21, 6 April 2006 (BST) Skill addition, class-specific Scouts and Explorers

This is an attempt to create additional variety within the classes. Fleet-Footed would be a sub-skill of Trekking available only to the Scout and Explorer classes. It behaves much like Trekking and Swimming do, but it would reduce AP cost when moving through Beach, Grassland, and Swamp terrain.
I believe from the information gained from the mapping projects that this skill's net benefits will be minimal (the island appears to be 80% Jungle). It would fit with the theme of the class, while not over-powering them. I also believe that since this is a sub-skill, that there should be additional class-specific skills for Scouts and Explorers.

Comments

  • Alternatively, the Scouts and Explorers could have a skill that prevents them from needing to spend AP to chop Jungle. However, due to the large amount of Jungle, that skill idea might have the potential to be too strong. --Lint 20:51, 9 April 2006 (BST)
    • I think both ideas are balanced--in fact, I might say that they're a little too unambitious. The chance of gaining experience from chopping d10 jungle is tiny, and it seems that there's little point to chopping jungle down below that. And, as you said, swamp, beach, and grassland make up only a tiny portion of the movable space in Shartak.--Wifey 01:12, 10 April 2006 (BST)
      • Once again I've completely forgot about the XP factor! As you point out, the effect would most likely be low, but I think I'll actually kill that alternative suggestion. I don't quite like the idea of preventing someone from earning XP when everyone else can. The original suggestion still stands though. --Lint 01:20, 10 April 2006 (BST)
  • Recent reports suggest that Trekking already reduces AP costs in terrain other than just Jungle. Making this suggestion sort of useless. --Lint 01:53, 29 April 2006 (BST)
