There are many healing items in Shartak, such as fruits, water, alcohol, or juices but nothing is more effective than a healing herb or a first aid kit. If the player has the correct skill (First aid for outsiders, Natural medicine for natives), these items become even more effective. The best place to find these is in the Medical huts of villages and camps.

Caves And Tunnels
Tunnels provide players with a whole new world to discover. Many characters travel caves to reach destinations, or to search for rare creatures or items.

There are two main tunnel complexes that are present on Shartak: The Mountain Tunnel (MT), which works its way underneath the Mountain, and the Cave Complex (CC), which has numerous caves and extends to may areas of the island and extends to the archipelago of Rakmogak. The following are the locations of the caves, with their corresponding tunnels:

A number of caves have been found on Shartak since the rediscovery of the forbidden village of Rakmogak on 13th August 2008. These caves connect to a large tunnel network that extends beneath the archipelago. The caves appear as part of random terrain features. Locations follow:
There are two types of tunnel found in the mountain. The first is passable, and allows for movement just as most other forms of terrain in the game. The second only allows for vertical movement ("Go Up" and "Go Down").

There is a tunnel under the mountain. Entrance at (up on mountain path). Reportedly easy for one to get lost in without a map. It seems to contain nothing but rats and other players who are lost.

There is another tunnel through the mountain's southwest tip with ends at and and a single 45-degree turn at . This tunnel is known as Armadox's Cut.

A third tunnel can be found near Dalpok at (Patch's Cave). It extends east towards the mountain (map). It seems that this tunnel used to be connected with the tunnel underneath the mountain, but now it is blocked by a cave-in.

In tunnels, players can find Giant Spiders and Rats roaming around. Additionally, players can search certain tunnel squares to find fungi. These squares are typically marked with a signpost.
All this is for business." He fished into his pockets, and threw a poisonous snake onto the dead body, "Calling card, next time, stay out of Club Palermo."

Like the name applies, all these skills help with the defense of a character by increasing their hit points, and by attacking with more damage than before. These skills are incredibly useful for new players. Cannibals and Pirates have class specific skills that branch off of this tree.

Body building
Increases melee damage - Increases the base damage of all melee weapons by one damage. Does not effect the rifle or the blowpipe.

Grunk the Pale howled with glee, as his massive arms drove the wooden club faster and stronger into the outsider's head. Taking care not to completely pulverize the head, Grunk smiled as brains leaked out. They were his favorite.

Stamina
Increases max HP by 20 - This skill will help one live longer than usual by increasing the number of hit points.

Keeping his breaths even and shallow, Swarm could keep running through the jungle for most of the day at this even pace. Unfortunately, the Wiksik headhunters were on his trail and he was going to have to speed it up if he planned on living for the day.

Having this skill is not required to try growing plants. What is required is a seed bag with seeds, and a hole in the ground. Currently, there is research being done to determine what watering the plants, or even this skill, brings to the table. Some speculate that with this skill, and with regular watering, one gets better plants, providing better search rate. When a seed has been in the ground for an amount of time, the tile will read "A small plant is growing here". Without further ado, the skill.
