Club Palermo and the adjacent Theatre represent the wild side of Durham life. Club Palermo is a bar/restaurant run by Durham's first and (allegedly) most notorious crime family. Entertainments include cabaret, gambling, barfights and mob-style executions. Rumour has it that the Theatre is a front for more risque vice activities.

=== Durham Dojo ===
Durham Dojo is a combat training facility run by Durham Utility. We provide a place for people to practice their fighting skills and gain XP through practice fights with each other or with the combat instructor. Everyone is welcome to take advantage of this free service. Any weapon/method of attack is allowed, but killing is not permited.

=== FAK-U ===
First Aid Kit Universal (FAK-U) is a medical service provided to those in the Durham area. Injured people will be healed free-of-charge by resident staff at the FAK-U medical centre. FAK-U staff will also make emergency calls outwith the town limits. Contact FAK-U via IRC (#shartak on EFnet) or the official forum.

This is a list of historical events that happened on Shartak during 2009.

==January==
*The new constitution of the [[Peninsular Federation]], a political union of Derby and Port Breton superseding the slowly disintegrating [[Eastern Federation]], was drafted by Baron Surcouf. The concept of a new ruling power in Derby was enthusiastically received by its citizens.

*The [[Greater Shartak Unification Coalition]] maintained its siege of [[Wiksik]]. An [[Island Alliance]] was proposed by the [[Kingdom of Skulls]] for the purposes of stopping bloodshed across Shartak including the attack on [[Wiksik]], and resolving the competing claims to the ruins north of Durham known [[Fort Creedy]] and [[Great Southall]]. Negotiations over the Alliance treaty also served as a vehicle for the GSUC's claim to the ruins known as Chastity or [[The Pirate's Rest]] near the [[shipwreck]]. The Alliance was immediately rejected by the [[Pirate High Command]] and the [[Rakmogaki Collective]]. The treaty itself fell apart as neither side wished to give an inch.

*A small, loose and drunken coalition of pirates led by the [[Pirate High Command]] attacked [[Dalpok]].

*[[The Rakmogaki Collective]] learn that one of their fabled treasures, the [[Obsidian Spear]] was stolen by pirates. The Collective joined forces with the [[Bone Gnawers]] to raid the shipwreck in search of the artifact. After a few weeks, the [[Pirate High Command]] attempts to intervene, abandoning their raid on [[Dalpok]], but only to fall to the overwhelming cannibal horde.

*The spirits of the ancestors reveal the location of their [[Sacred Space]] within the summit of [http://wiki.shartak.com/index.php/Mountain#Mountain Mt. Shartak], in response to the escalating violence among the island's inhabitants.

==February==
*A young ambitious cannibal known as Nihilo finds the [[Obsidian Spear]]. The cannibals quickly depart from the shipwreck after finding the treasure.
*[http://www.shartak.com/profile.cgi?id=16557 Ravioli Machitty] sets a ground-breaking record of 5,207 XP for [http://www.shartak.com/statdaily.html daily XP gains] by blowing the conch inside the [[Sacred Space]].
*The [[Kingdom of Skulls]], attacked York, attacking the med hut and other various gathering places. The attack was repelled by the Greater Shartak Unity Coalition.
*De La Coiffe and the GSUC host [http://forum.shartak.com/index.php/topic,2065.0.html| Native Awareness Month], a month-long holiday in which the celebrators slaughter natives around the entire island for a grand prize of three heavy swords and 2,000 gold coins.
*The Collective attempt to rid the Durham Peninsula of natives and outsiders alike, for treading on holy ground.

==March==
*[[The Rakmogaki Collective]] continues it's attack on Durham, but with many hurdles to overcome. The outsiders of Durham repeatedly slaughter the roaming shaman, and the relative isolation of Durham save many Durhamites from repeated slaughter.
*A cannibal known as Tkltchk is honored by the deceased spirit of Kalmogal, and receives his glove and becomes his chosen champion. The cannibals disperse from Durham to an unknown location.

==April==
*The cannibal [http://www.shartak.com/profile.cgi?id=17391 Nihilo] slaughters over 30 Derbians in one night. He dubbed this orgy of death and destruction as the "Harvesting of Souls" as tribute to the ancestors.
*Nihilo dethrones Ravioli Machitty's record of most XP gained in a day with a monumental 5,528 XP through quaffing an exorbitant amount of fungi juice and slaying the townspeople of Derby.

==May==
*Despite considerable outsider resistance, [[Ph]] and the [[Kingdom of Skulls]] eventually siege and raze [[York]].

=== Club Palermo ===
Club Palermo and the adjacent Theatre represent the wild side of Durham life. Club Palermo is a bar/restaurant run by Durham's first and (allegedly) most notorious crime family. Entertainments include cabaret, gambling, barfights and mob-style executions. Rumour has it that the Theatre is a front for more risque vice activities.

=== Durham Dojo ===
Durham Dojo is a combat training facility run by Durham Utility. We provide a place for people to practice their fighting skills and gain XP through practice fights with each other or with the combat instructor. Everyone is welcome to take advantage of this free service. Any weapon/method of attack is allowed, but killing is not permited.

=== FAK-U ===
First Aid Kit Universal (FAK-U) is a medical service provided to those in the Durham area. Injured people will be healed free-of-charge by resident staff at the FAK-U medical centre. FAK-U staff will also make emergency calls outwith the town limits. Contact FAK-U via IRC (#shartak on EFnet) or the official forum.

== January ==

* Agriculture begins on the island as island residents discover that they can extract seeds from fruit, which when planted sprout trees, bushes and pumpkin patches.

== February ==

* FIRE! FIRE! Is heard on the island for the first time, as the knowledge of how to start a small campfire results in the outbreak of numerous wildfires.

*The [http://www.shartak.com/clanview.cgi?id=503 People's Republic of Durham] launches a coordinated effort to stop the blaze on the [[Durham]] grassland. This is the first organized firefighting effort in Shartak history.

This is a list of historical events that happened on Shartak during 2009.

==January==
*The new constitution of the [[Peninsular Federation]], a political union of Derby and Port Breton superseding the slowly disintegrating [[Eastern Federation]], was drafted by Baron Surcouf. The concept of a new ruling power in Derby was enthusiastically received by its citizens.

*The [[Greater Shartak Unification Coalition]] maintained its siege of [[Wiksik]]. An [[Island Alliance]] was proposed by the [[Kingdom of Skulls]] for the purposes of stopping bloodshed across Shartak including the attack on [[Wiksik]], and resolving the competing claims to the ruins north of Durham known [[Fort Creedy]] and [[Great Southall]]. Negotiations over the Alliance treaty also served as a vehicle for the GSUC's claim to the ruins known as Chastity or [[The Pirate's Rest]] near the [[shipwreck]]. The Alliance was immediately rejected by the [[Pirate High Command]] and the [[Rakmogaki Collective]]. The treaty itself fell apart as neither side wished to give an inch.

*A small, loose and drunken coalition of pirates led by the [[Pirate High Command]] attacked [[Dalpok]].

*[[The Rakmogaki Collective]] learn that one of their fabled treasures, the [[Obsidian Spear]] was stolen by pirates. The Collective joined forces with the [[Bone Gnawers]] to raid the shipwreck in search of the artifact. After a few weeks, the [[Pirate High Command]] attempts to intervene, abandoning their raid on [[Dalpok]], but only to fall to the overwhelming cannibal horde.

*The spirits of the ancestors reveal the location of their [[Sacred Space]] within the summit of [http://wiki.shartak.com/index.php/Mountain#Mountain Mt. Shartak], in response to the escalating violence among the island's inhabitants.

==February==
*A young ambitious cannibal known as Nihilo finds the [[Obsidian Spear]]. The cannibals quickly depart from the shipwreck after finding the treasure.
*[http://www.shartak.com/profile.cgi?id=16557 Ravioli Machitty] sets a ground-breaking record of 5,207 XP for [http://www.shartak.com/statdaily.html daily XP gains] by blowing the conch inside the [[Sacred Space]].
*The [[Kingdom of Skulls]], attacked York, attacking the med hut and other various gathering places. The attack was repelled by the Greater Shartak Unity Coalition.
*De La Coiffe and the GSUC host [http://forum.shartak.com/index.php/topic,2065.0.html| Native Awareness Month], a month-long holiday in which the celebrators slaughter natives around the entire island for a grand prize of three heavy swords and 2,000 gold coins.
*The Collective attempt to rid the Durham Peninsula of natives and outsiders alike, for treading on holy ground.

==March==
*[[The Rakmogaki Collective]] continues it's attack on Durham, but with many hurdles to overcome. The outsiders of Durham repeatedly slaughter the roaming shaman, and the relative isolation of Durham save many Durhamites from repeated slaughter.
*A cannibal known as Tkltchk is honored by the deceased spirit of Kalmogal, and receives his glove and becomes his chosen champion. The cannibals disperse from Durham to an unknown location.

==April==
*The cannibal [http://www.shartak.com/profile.cgi?id=17391 Nihilo] slaughters over 30 Derbians in one night. He dubbed this orgy of death and destruction as the "Harvesting of Souls" as tribute to the ancestors.
*Nihilo dethrones Ravioli Machitty's record of most XP gained in a day with a monumental 5,528 XP through quaffing an exorbitant amount of fungi juice and slaying the townspeople of Derby.

==May==
*Despite considerable outsider resistance, [[Ph]] and the [[Kingdom of Skulls]] eventually siege and raze [[York]].

*[[The Rakmogaki Collective]] descends upon the village of [[Dalpok]]...
