Thoughts on Shartak

  • There is no ability to experience playing as another class unless you create a new character (This isn't at all uncommon in MMORPGs, though a noticeable change of pace from Urban Dead)
    • Allowing reincarnation as a different type or class?
      • Only you lose all your items and earned skills.
      • Will ultimately lead into some players requesting that their character be reverted.
    • Allowing ascension as a different type or class?
      • Will ultimately lead into some players requesting that their character be reverted.
  • The leveling requirements increase over time, rather than a flat rate for skills (This isn't at all uncommon in MMORPGs, though a noticeable change of pace from Urban Dead)
    • This causes players to think carefully about the skills they invest in and the roles they want to play.
  • There are NPC characters and animals
    • As someone that tends to avoid participating on PvP servers, I like having the option to attack something that is not player controlled.
  • There are fixed respawn and starting locations (unverified)
    • If there is ever a population imbalance, one type may succeed at repeatedly spawn-killing the other.
  • Limited information
    • Everything is new! I truly feel like an explorer.
    • I am unable to plan ahead my moves. I am heedlessly plowing straight through the jungle.

Search Odds

hey.. thanks for the nod in the search odds! As I guess you noticed I was working on something.. I think it should work ok, but I am worried it may, due to the colspan thing, be complicated and prone to error for the uninitiated. Take a look, it is on my talk page.. http://wiki.shartak.com/index.php/User_talk:Fitzcarraldo I left out the actual check boxes for items for now, but I think they could be added :) Let me know if you think it would work?
