Michael Edwards

Charismatic and possessing an unusual talent for training monkeys as well as being a notorious Pirate... and also Shartak's best selling novelist, the multi-talented Michael Edwards was one of the first pirates to carve a name for himself on Shartak.

Founder of the Jolly Roger Gang, once one of the most powerful groups on Shartak, and co-founder of the later Pirate Defense Force. Along with some of the other early pirate figure heads, Michael Edwards brought a degree of organisation to the shipwreck and was one of the few pirates that had a more diplomatic approach to piracy. Despite this, him and his gang were constantly at odds with the various Pirate Hunters of the time.

After the collapse of the major pirate groups, returning the shipwreck to it's state of anarchy, he published a series of light novels about his adventures and has since disappeared. There are rumours that he is still alive somewhere on Shartak, but these have not been confirmed.

Keiichi

Keiichi. Perhaps the most talkative psychopath on Shartak. Also known to be one of the first on Shartak to find and use one of the ancient native weapons - the heavy sword.

A settler of York, Keiichi’s delibrate killing spree soon caught the attention of the Colonial Police. After a bizzare turn of events, Keiichi somehow convinced the CP that he had changed and even enlisted as a member. He continued his spree as an officer, until he was caught and marked as "Kill on Sight".

Keiichi managed to create more chaos when he hired the Mercenary’s Guild to invade York, leading up to the 4th Battle of York. Although the invasion was ultimately a failure, it achieved Keiichi’s plan to cause the collapse of many the groups operating in York.

At first Keiichi’s unpredictable actions and various public attempts to become notorious, were hard to take seriously. However, when the facts are examined together, Keiichi is revealed to be one of the most unstable and dangerous individuals on the island.

James Barnes

A trained doctor, James Barnes skills were in demand ever since he arrived on Shartak. However it wasn't just his medical skills that made a mark on the settlement of Derby. His charisma and kindness to newcomers quickly won him the loyalty of Derby.

Thanks to his diplomatic skill, determination and position as public face of the Derby Hospitallers he helped bring Derby into a golden age. his diplomatic work with the Eastern Federation - a group that united Derby - made Derby into one of the most peaceful and organised settlements on the island.

At the time, both York and Durham were harsh places that often killed pirates on sight. Thanks to James Barnes and his associates, they managed to maintain a legal force in Derby whilst still welcoming pirates, greatly increasing the popularity of Derby.

Eventually, after a period of prosperity, the Eastern Federation disintegrated. Soon after James Barnes left the island without a word and hasn't been seen since. However, his legacy can still be seen.

lama

Even today, one mention of the word "Wicksick" is enough make older residents of Shartak clutch their neck. A mention of the name "lama" is enogh to make them look over their shoulder. Just in case.

Half sport, half ritual and half bloodlust the activity of headhunting and the affliction of going "Wicksick" goes back generations. It even has one half too many. But fractions aside, the Wicksick Headhunters were feared all over the island with natives and outsiders alike getting the urge to go Wicksick.

Winner of the Great Durham Headhunt, lama worked in the Headhunter Publicity and Events departments. It is also generally agreed that he was one of the most enthusiastic decapitators in the history of Shartak. Although the Wicksick Headhunters have vanished, their legacy lives on.
