The Society for the Promotion of Independent Research on Interdimesnional Translations of Shartak (or S.P.I.R.I.T.S. for short) are a group of Outsiders and Natives interested in research on the spirit phenomenon. They move around Shartak trying to find any spirits and occasionally becoming one themselves. One point of interest is the fact that it is possible, after death, to be "revived" by native shaman (a phenomenon that has occurred frequently to the founder, MorkaisChosen). This is one of the primary research points.

The clan has an agreement with the Colonial Police: we don't attack them and they protect us as humans.

Membership is open to all characters, but primarily scientists whose goal is to research these phenomena. Scouts, soldier bodyguards, and settlers interested are also welcome: just add your name to the list below.

If more members join, I'll make a forum for the members to discuss strategies, interesting discoveries and general stuff. MorkaisChosen 16:54, 15 March 2006 (GMT)

10:24, 21 April 2006 (BST) Recently noticed that any shaman will revive any spirit, not just shamans captured by the explorers reviving them and native shaman reviving natives. MorkaisChosen

15:32, 11 May 2006 (BST) I have developed an interesting ability while a Spirit in one of the native villages. I appear to be able to scare people to death! I haven't checked whether this works on animals, however. MorkaisChosen

11:28, 28 May 2006 (BST) S.P.I.R.I.T.S. goes live! The clan is officially recognised on Shartak. Currently only open to non-Pirate outsiders.MorkaisChosen 11:28, 28 May 2006 (BST)

NOTE: I'm using this talk page as a kind of research log (in character) type thing. If any member of the Society wants to join in, they can, as that's the whole point of the group... I'll set up the clan on Shartak (the main game) as soon as I can get another 200 or so experience. I'm heading up to a native village... Wailing works!

I have managed in discorporal form to reach the town of York. I am near the shamen, but he does not seem to notice me nor is he trying to revive me. Either he is tired of reviving outsiders or he will not revive people from another village. I guess I must return home as soon as I am rested as I do not see any way of investigating right now.Darkferret 20:21, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

The most unusual thing happend to me while I was walking in the jungle. A log: A spirit whispers “Hello there. Have a free paranormal experience.” (2006-09-04 19:14) You hear a banshee wail coming from all around you, and lose 4 HP from fear. (2006-09-04 19:15) A spirit whispers “Hope you enjoyed it.” (2006-09-04 19:15) Did the ghost say that because it knew I could hear or that I am a member of SPIRITS or was it for its own entertainment? I am fortunate to have survived this fearsome encounter. Hopefully it won't happen again until I reach York.Darkferret 09:25, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

The animals are rising from the dead! After shooting down an alligator, it rose back up and nearly chomped me to death. Oh this Halloween appears to be very real on this island. Darkferret 00:42, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

What has always intrigued me about this Island is that only human ghosts have ever been observed. Do we have some evolved quality that distinguishes us from monkeys, dogs, traders, or parrots in a way that allows our minds to materialise ectoplasmicly after our deaths? What ever is behind this phenomenon is clearly getting stronger as this conflict rages on. --Darkferret 04:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
